Story #3 – paragraph 1

Posted on Wednesday, March 13th, 2013 at 2:10 am

Like a ball of snow rolling down hill, we’re gaining momentum in our writing of short stories that will be included on the back of our greeting cards.  The ink is still dry on story #2, and we’ve already written two paragraphs of story #3.  Our goal is to finish story #3 by next week, and then start on story #4.

Below is our rough draft for the first paragraph of story #3. The image for this card will be several young sheep standing outside in the rain under an umbrella.  For background information, please read story #2, or better yet, read stories 1 and 2 (actually, you can read all of these stories with the exception of the last paragraph in the stories – you’ll need to buy that particular card to read the surprise ending to each story).

Paragraph 1

After eating, talking and playing games for several hours, Sheep’s visitors left late in the evening.  As Sheep drifted off to sleep that night, his heart felt strangely warm – it was good to spend time with a godly family and enjoy their company.1

The weather the next morning was cool and rainy, so Sheep decided to sleep in.  When he awoke well past breakfast time, Sheep couldn’t wait to play an expensive video game he had purchased with money gifted to him by his father.2  Within minutes, Sheep became so engrossed in it that he didn’t hear his phone ring several times.  Little did he know, several players on the soccer team he coached had tried to contact him and were waiting for him, as their soccer game was just about ready to begin.

1 Luke 24:32   They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts feel strangely warm as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?”

2 Luke 15:13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.
